Dr. Sebastien G Demoiny, DPM, FACFAS MD

Sebastien Demoiny graduated with his medical degree from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA in 2006. Afterwards he completed an intensive foot and ankle surgical residency at Temple University Hospital. In 2010 Dr. Demoiny joined Healthstar Physicians, a multispecialty physician group in Morristown, TN which consists of 60 physicians and he is the sole foot and ankle surgeon in the group. Dr. Demoiny serves on the Board of Directors at Healthstar Physicians and also serves as the Chief of Surgery at Lakeway Regional Hospital in Morristown, TN. He has stayed active in clinical education by serving as a consultant for various orthopedic companies and also aides in product development. He also runs several surgical training courses every year. Dr. Demoiny is board certified in Foot and Ankle Surgery and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery. He has also been designated as a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. He actively serves as an editor for several book chapters, peer reviewed journals, and has several publications. Dr. Demoiny has also dedicated a lot of his time to humanitarian work by serving as a medical missionary in Haiti and Kenya.


Dr. Eduard Rabat, Medical Director, MD

Dr. Eduard Rabat is a full-time orthopedic surgeon, specialized in foot and ankle surgery.
During his Medicine studies, in 1977, begin to work as a internal student at Barcelona San Rafael Hospital in the Orthopedic surgery service directed by Prof. Antonio Viladot, who was one of the foot and ankle surgery “father” in Europe. Since this moment and up until now Foot and ankle has been the main goal in his professional career. After graduating in Barcelona Faculty in 1980 begin the residency in Orthopedic surgery in the same Hospital, and at the same time start to work with Antonio Viladot in his private practice at Clinica Tres Torres in Barcelona. This relationship was constant during 15 years.
Coincident with all of that He developed his professional Carrer in different and important Hospitals of the area, as Ortophedic and Trauma surgeon but always with an important Foot and ankle surgery dedication. In 2000 create the “Foot and ankle unit” in “ Hospital General de Catalunya” and since this data all his time has been related to foot and ankle.
Now a day he is the director and founder of the “Foot and ankle unit” in Hospital Quirón Barcelona and Áptima Centre clinic in the cities of Sant Cugat and Terrassa. In 2014 in combination with the Hospital Mutua de Terrassa foot and ankle unit , the Spanish Foot and ankle society (SECMPT) recognized as a authorized Unit , in order to receive fellows from all over. An important percentage of this surgical activity has been devote to the development and improvement of the minimal invasive techniques. Also research on Heel pain has been and is a constant in their activity. The present team is composed by two more members, one of them only devoted to Foot and ankle arthroscopy. In total the group perform more than 800 surgical procedures per year. He has participated in a large number of international congresses and symposiums as a faculty and invited speaker , and publish papers and book chapters of the specialty


PD Dr Xavier CREVOISIER, Professor MD

Prof. Xavier Crevoisier is a full-time orthopaedic surgeon, specialized in foot and ankle (F&A) surgery. He graduated in 2001 from the University of Bern, Switzerland. After specializing in F&A surgery in Lausanne (CHUV), Zürich (Schulthess Klinik) and Rochester (Mayo Clinic) he returned to the CHUV and developed the F&A unit. Today he is the founder and director of the University F&A center (yearly activity : 10’000 F&A patients and 1’000 surgical procedures) and also head of the orthopaedic unit of the orthopaedics and trauma surgery department of the CHUV in Lausanne. He is strongly involved in pre- and post-graduate teaching, has organized several local, national, and European courses and is regularly committed as invited speaker. He is also involved in the development and design of F&A products and devices. Beside clinical research he performed fundamental research, mainly on ankle arthrosis, during his ongoing collaboration with the EPFL since 2008. He is author or co-author of 47 peer reviewed publications and 6 book chapters

 


Jean-Luc Besse, Doctor MD

Dr Jean-Luc Besse is a full-time orthopaedic surgeon, specialised in foot and ankle surgery, at the Lyon-Sud University Hospital, France. After medical education at Alexis-Carrel Medical school–Lyon I University (1978-1984), residency in surgery; graduating in Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology in 1989; certificates in Biology and Sport Medicine, Microsurgery, and Biologist qualified in animal experimentation; he was assistant-professor from 1995-1999, and since then Hospital Practitioner in charge of foot and ankle surgery. He also has a PhD in Biomechanics/Biomaterials (Aix-Marseille II 1995), certification to direct research (Lyon 2005) and belongs to Lyon 1 IFSTTAR-LBMC UMRT-9406 Biomechanics research unit. Dr Besse is past-president (2011-2012) of the French Association of Foot Surgery (AFCP) and during his term, he built the French Total Ankle Replacement Registry, which he still administers. He is also member of the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society, and educational committee chairman of the European Foot and Ankle Society (EFAS). He is associate editor of Orthopaedic Traumatology Surgery Research (OTSR). He has 63 peer-reviewed articles, participated in more than 60 book chapters. and received 3 awards for his published work.
 


Bruno Ferré, Co-founder & Medical Director, MD

Dr. Bruno Ferré is a full-time Orthopaedic Surgeon specialized in Foot & Ankle Surgery at the Medical and Surgical Orthopaedic Institute of Monaco (IM2S). He is the Head of the Medical Informatics Department at IM2S. Dr Bruno Ferré is Past President (2015-2016) of the French Association of Foot Surgery (AFCP) and a board member of the French Society of Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology (SOFCOT). Dr Bruno Ferré received his medical degree in 1978 and completed specialty training in Orthopaedic Surgery in 1983 at Nantes. He has wide ranging research interests across clinical biomechanics, foot and ankle surgery and computational modeling. Dr. Bruno Ferré has authored numerous research publications, as well as book chapters covering various surgical treatments of foot and ankle conditions and delivered numerous invited lectures internationally.


Thibaut Leemrijse, Co-founder & Medical Director, MD

Dr. Thibaut Leemrijse is a full-time orthopaedic surgeon, specialised in foot and ankle surgery. After graduating in June 1999, he won the 1st Prize of the European Foot and Ankle Society EFAS-EFFORT and performed a fellowship with several leading persons with the same interest in foot and ankle surgery For five years, he was the head of the department for foot and ankle pathologies in CHU Bichat (Paris, France). This was followed by 7 years as clinical Professor at St Luc University Hospital (UCL, Brussel, Belgium) and head of the unit of diabetic foot. In 2010, he was the co-founder of the “Foot and Ankle Institute” in Brussels (Belgium) and has now a team of three other surgeons and a research manager. It is the largest and leading group in Belgium with more than 12,000 patients and 1200 surgical procedures a year. Dr. Leemrijse is member of the Medical Training Centre in Luxembourg. In terms of research, he is involved in the development and design of many products in foot surgery with several patents. He has published various books on the pathology of the forefoot, is co-author on the Diabetic Foot Book, director of a textbook on pathology of the foot and ankle at Elsevier Masson. He has published 28 international papers in peer reviewed journals and has participated in more than 50 book chapters.
